Mr Savage's Class Summer Term 2 Newsletter.
I would like to welcome you to the Summer 2 term. This newsletter will give you some information on what the children will be learning during this term.
Our theme lessons this term are all about the Brazil. We will be looking into the physical and human geography of this fascinating country. Our theme will also be linked to our Art and English work this term.
Our maths lessons this term see us revising all of the areas we have covered so far this year. The children will be looking back at number and place value, the four calculations, fractions, measures, geometry and statistics.
Our English lessons this term will see us writing biographies about some of Brazil's greatest sports people. We'll be learning about the features of an effective biography. Also the children will write their own play scripts based on the classic story of Oliver Twist.
Our young scientists will be investigating the suitability of different materials for specific jobs. This unit will involve lots of practical work as the children try to find out what types of materials are best suited to jobs such as keeping water hot.
Our P.E. lessons this term will see the children developing their athletics skills. Our lessons will cover a range of activities that involve throwing, running and jumping.
The children's R.E. learning this term will see us continuing our work about the religions in our local community. We will be comparing and contrasting the ways in which followers of these religions worship.
We will be continuing on our year 5 computing journey and finding out how to keep information secure.
We will explore subjects such as disability and e-safety, allowing the children to discuss and debate their opinions.
The children will be looking at the work of Brazillan artist Fabio Cambreanelli and continuing the development of our watercolour painting skills. We will also be working on painting some landscape images.
