Mr Savage's Class Summer Term 2 Newsletter.

 

I would like to welcome you to the Summer 2 term. This newsletter will give you some information on what the children will be learning during this term.

Theme

Our theme lessons this term are all about the seaside! The children will be fascinated by what they learn as we build towards our school trip.

Maths

Our maths lessons this term see us continuing with securing our knowledge our addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We will be using these skill in our weekly arithmetic tests. The children will also have further opportunities to look at maths in real life as we explore measures.

English

The children's English lessons vary depending upon the group in which they are working. All children will have the opportunity to write regularly, improve their vocabulary and read some wonderful texts.

Science

Our young scientists will be investigating and learning about materials. Our learning is linked to our seaside topic.

P.E.

Our P.E. lessons this term will see the children playing a range of games as we work on multi skills in the build up to sports’ day.

R.E.

We will be continuing our work on the Old Testament and also exploring the stories of the New Testament.

PSHE

We will explore subjects such as disability and e-safety, allowing the children to discuss and debate their opinions.

Art/ D.T.

Our artwork this term is linked to our seaside topic and the children will have the opportunity to use a variety of resources to create seaside themed pieces of art.

 

Homework

Spellings- will be sent home weekly, there will be a focus on common exception words and then learning spelling rules. These will be sent home on Mondays and the children will tested on these spellings on Fridays. Spelling books must be in school on a Friday.

 

Number bonds/times tables children will be tested on a Monday and take home practise sheets on a Friday.

 

Reading -  Your child will be reading daily in class through different subjects. Please ensure you listen to your child read, discuss and ask questions about the books, as often as possible during the week and note in their reading record that you have done so. The more their reading skills improve, the more opportunities open up to them. Reading is key to all learning.

Please ensure your child brings their reading book into school every day.

 

 

PE Kit

PE is a core subject and every child is expected to take part in these lessons.  Our lessons will take place on a Thursdays and Fridays.  . Please ensure your child has their PE kit: black or navy shorts, plain white or blue school t-shirt and plimsolls in school for these days and that earrings have been removed. (We are not allowed to remove them.)
