Mr Savage's Class Summer Term 2 Newsletter.
I would like to welcome you to the Summer 2 term. This newsletter will give you some information on what the children will be learning during this term.
Our new theme for this half term is "Brazil”. The children will be learning lots about this vibrant country as we explore the human and physical geography.
During our maths lessons the children will continue to learn about written methods for increasingly difficult calculation problems as well as working with measures and geometry.
There will be regular opportunities for reading during the term, this will include reading in our book talk sessions. Our English lessons will include the children learning to write play scripts and discussion texts.
Our young scientists will learn about eating and digestion. We will be answering questions such as “Why do we eat?” and understanding what goes on inside the human body!
We will be learning some of the basic skills required to compete in the exciting and fast paced game of tag rugby.
We will be exploring different sounds as well as rhythmic patterns. The children will listen to a variety of types of music, as well as learning new songs.
Our R.E. lessons will continue to develop the children's knowledge of world religions as they investigate the religions that are represented where we live.
We will be using computers on our journey to becoming architects!
We will explore subjects such as disability and e-safety, allowing the children to discuss and debate their opinions.
Year 5 Homework
English and maths homework will be issued on Sumdog on a Thursday and must be completed (either in school or at home) by the following Monday. Spellings are given out and tested on a Friday. All children are also expected to practise their times tables for their weekly test.
