Homework

Your child should be reading every day, please encourage them to do this. Learning spellings and times tables – these should be practised regularly.

If your child is struggling with homework, or you would like some guidance on how to help them, please come and see us.

All other homework is now on the school website - sum dog. The homework is monitored and will be changed every Tuesday.

                                                    

I would like to welcome you to the new term.

After 20 years at St Mary's, this is my final term. I shall be retiring from teaching in July,  having completed 35 years in the profession.  I shall leave with many happy memories of my time here and I wish all of you every blessing in the years ahead.

 

Maths will include being accurate using all four operations (adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing), rounding numbers, using place value, measuring - identifying and drawing angles and 2D/3D shapes, identifying and using fractions, decimals and percentages, using time and a range of measures and interpreting information from graphs and timetables.

 

English- We are studying a film called the Piano. We will also be completing comprehensions, spelling and reading tasks. Please encourage your child to complete these. Please encourage your child to read every day, this will help them with ideas for writing.

 

Science-  The children will investigating electricity and making circuits.
 

 

RE In our R.E. lessons, we will be looking at the types of churches and places of worship in Kettering and the surrounding district.

 

Theme   Our topic this term is Italy and we are looking at all things Italian.

 

PE.   This term is cricket. Please ensure that your child has their correct PE kit in school on Tuesday and Thursday with suitable footwear, preferably trainers, as we will aim to be outside for most lessons (weather permitting). Please ensure that your child is not wearing earrings or can remove them by themselves.

 

Music listening to and creating music.

 

ICT Creating links with other parts of the world

 

Art/DT – Looking at the work of Leonardo Da Vinci. We will also be making Italian Food.
