Summer Term 1 Newsletter Year 2
Mrs Fritz and I would like to welcome the children back after our Easter term break. We hope you have had a restful break and the children are excited to start the new term, where there will be lots of new learning happening and of course Year 2 SATs. Miss Reeve, a trainee teacher, who was with us in the Autumn term, returns on Monday 23rd April for her final placement. She will be taking on the role of teacher during her time with us whilst I support her. I know she is very excited to be returning to St Mary's and I know the children will be very pleased to see her again.
This terms theme is Space. Through this topic the children will learn key facts about: space exploration, Neil Armstrong, planets, moons and stars. Linked to this is our science unit, Seasonal Changes. Through this unit the children will look at how plants and animals change during the seasons, use symbols on weather maps, present weather broadcasts and set up investigations about the weather. Art is linked to science as the children will be creating seasonal paintings using a range of different painting techniques.
