Medication in School

Unlike many other local schools we will administer medicines to your children. There is no statutory requirement that we should do this. It is done on the understanding that schools are busy places, and it may be possible to miss one dose.

If your child needs medicine administering during the day, it must be brought into school by an adult and given to a member of the school office staff. You will be asked to fill in a form, so that all staff understand exactly what time your child needs their dose, how much needs to be administered and any other instructions necessary.

Children should not bring any medicines into school, it is not safe, nor is it a reliable method of ensuring your child gets to take the medicine. Medicine needs to be brought in with medical instructions if prescribed.

Please ensure that if you have indicated your child has asthma, that we have an inhaler kept in school at all times. We regularly monitor all inhalers that are kept in school, and we will contact parents if an inhaler runs out or expires.
