A balanced approach to the teaching and learning in RE

Our research into the best ways for children to engage with Religious Education led us to create a Balanced RE Curriculum where our pupils engage with their learning within the  three different disciplines that make RE conversations the most meaningful.

As a result, at the beginning of every RE lesson, children know whether they are learning as a philosopher, as a social scientist or a theologian. In the context of religious and non-religious beliefs and worldviews, as philosophers, they will think about what people think, as social scientists, they will think about how people live, and as theologians, they will think about what people believe.

We created these slides to give clarity in each lesson, for each year group.

We believe this innovative approach is already helping our children to hold balanced and well-informed conversations about religion and belief.
